About the Position
The Program Coordinator is a highly organized program coordinator with strong attention to detail. Working under the direction of the Executive Director and with external partners, the Program Coordinator will develop and coordinate bike safety education and community engagement programs across Oregon and reestablish and grow bike tourism programs. The Program Coordinator develops operational tactics, sound practices and supportive relationships, both internally and externally, that result in cooperative and cost-effective collaborations that further the delivery of the Cycle Oregon brand promise.
Essential Job Functions
Bicycle Education Programs
1. Develop ‘train-the-trainer’ materials and implement training sessions for educators. Support program planning and the coordinator and implementation of activities.
2. Review bike safety education curriculum and recommend modifications; engage in annual review of curriculum.
3. Coordinate the purchase, set-up and maintenance of multiple bike fleets and develop systems for their use across the state.
4. Develop operating plans and policies and procedures for programs.
5. Promote, schedule and support educators in use of the traveling bike fleet.
6. Analyze and incorporate feedback and best practices to keep the program functioning at a high level.
Bicycle Routes and Tourism
1. Communicate with, assist, and mentor bike tourism proponents on phases of route development including the development of a bike route plan and ongoing implementation of the plan.
2. Train and assist proponents to be successful local advocates for designated bike routes and build support for their program.
3. Staff a state-wide bike route advisory committee. Plan meeting logistics and agenda in conjunction with the chair. Ensure that the committee meetings meet all public meeting and reporting requirements.
4. Organize an annual bike tourism proponent conference and represent Cycle Oregon at outreach/education meetings and workshops.
5. Coordinate promotion of the bike routes with Travel Oregon, local marketing organizations, travel writers, etc.
Planning and Project Coordination
1. Establish priorities and facilitate communication among staff so that relevant people are well-informed about tasks, timing and information.
2. Regularly evaluate efforts to identify areas for improvement, efficiency, cost-savings or other goals.
3. Ensure that objectives and activities are properly implemented per grant and contract. Maintain a variety of administrative records and databases; create program reports and summarize key statistics.
Other
1. Build awareness and visibility of Cycle Oregon through events and related activities.
2. Develop and maintain a culture of collaboration, creativity, confidence and knowledge among staff and partners.

General Qualifications
Minimum requirement at least 2 years professional experience in a comparable role; a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent a plus. Expertise in youth programming, curriculum development, community engagement preferred. Driver’s license and competence in driving large vehicles is required. Knowledge of bike mechanics is a bonus.

Salary range: $48-$52k DOE
