The Gift of a First Bike

On Friday, November 21, 2025 at Dorena School in Dorena, Oregon, Cycle Oregon staff attended a special assembly to surprise 20 kids with  new bikes, helmets and riding accessories. The school has participated in our bike safety education programming since 2022 and we worked closely with school staff to identify need and select the students who would most benefit from the gift of a new bike.

This giveaway was part of our work to spread the joy of riding a bicycle in Oregon, work that includes our popular Summer Kids Camps and our statewide bike safety education program, which reached 7,500 students in more than 60 schools last year. For many kids, this was the first time they have owned a bike, and the first time they will have the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom that riding a bike can bring.

Supporting the Cycle Oregon Foundation ensures that we can continue to visit communities across the state and give the gift of a new bike to even more kids. Thank you to Rainy Peak Bicycles, Metropolis Cycles, Golden Pliers and ReBorn Bikes for their generous support of this bike and equipment giveaway.
