Summer Camp OSU Style

Cycle Oregon 2013 converged once again on the welcoming campus of OSU. Riders of all shapes, sizes, ages and skill levels tackled routes ranging from 12 to 83 miles. Smooth roads, vibrant vistas, and perfect weather made for a great day on the road.

One of the greatest aspects of the Cycle Oregon weekend rides is seeing young riders reach some pretty ambitious goals.A few of these kids already look like miniature pros.

Also satisfying was watching those who chose the most ambitious route tackle an extraordinarily steep hill out in the back 40. As a larger cyclist, I’m often frustrated to see more svelte riders waft up hills with what seems like zero effort. This hill had pretty much everyone gasping for air. Sweet, sweet revenge!

As usual, there were some mighty big smiles at the finish line. These smiles grew even larger once folks learned free ice cream was ready and waiting.
