BEHAVIOR POLICY and CODE OF CONDUCT 

Cycle Oregon strives to create a safe and inclusive environment for all of our events. As a participant in Joyride you agree to follow our Behaviour Policy and Code of Conduct. Violation of either may result in your removal from participation in the Joyride.

1. BEHAVIOR POLICY

We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for the following behaviors:

  1. Intolerance in the form of racial epithets or derogatory language of a protected class such as, but not limited to:
    1. Race, color, national origin or ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, creed or religion, marital status, sex, gender (including: pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions), gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, genetic information, medical condition or any other basis protected by federal, state or local law.  We also will not tolerate discrimination based on housing status, appearance, citizenship status, familial structure, ethnicity, class, or educational background. It also prohibits harassment and disrespectful or unprofessional conduct based on the perception that anyone has any of those characteristics, or is associated with a person who has or is perceived as having any of those characteristics. 
  1. Disrespectful or harmful behavior towards, from, or observed by staff, interns, and/or participants of a Cycle Oregon Event.
  1. Possession/use of any illegal drugs or substances.
  1. Violent or dangerous verbal and/or physical behavior, harassment, or abuse of any kind.
  1. Social, verbal, or physical bullying (including unwanted aggressive behavior, harmful teasing, or threats).
  1. Harassment of any kind including but not limited to sexual, cyber, physical or mental intimidation.

2. CODE OF CONDUCT

As a participant of a Cycle Oregon Event, I will:

  • Show respect for fellow participants at all times. I will always show respect and practice good sportsmanship to riders, volunteers, or staff persons at the Event, including virtual spaces, on social media, blogs and in person. I will show respect for all facilities and property while at the Event;
  • Show respect and appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to help;
  • Honor unique, individual identities, pronouns, & gender expressions;
  • Never yell, taunt, or threaten physical violence towards other participants; 
  • Never use abusive or vulgar language, or make racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs or derogatory comments. I will refrain from behavior deemed dishonest, offensive, or illegal; 
  • Never make unwanted sexual or physical contact with other participants;
  • Obey all local and state laws and the rules of the Event set forth by the event director and this document;
