Dates: July 10-12 Cost: $199 adult, $99 youth, 6 and under free

Host: Western Oregon University, Monmouth

Day One

“Field of Dreams” 22/49/74 miles: From camp, we’ll venture out through the valley to Buena Vista County Park. Stopping at the riverfront, we’ll rest to admire the glorious views of the Willamette. Those up for a longer loop will load their bikes on the ferry and ride on through Jefferson where they’ll face greater challenges and reap greater rewards. After crossing two rustic covered bridges near Scio, long-route riders will meet up with the mid-route riders in Marion for lunch. Once sufficiently fueled, campers will enter Ankeny Wildlife Refuge and be greeted by ospreys and bald eagles. The trip back promises spectacular views for all through hazelnut orchards and lush vineyards before starting our final leg through the charming town of Independence. Welcome back to Monmouth. Rest up campers because tomorrow is another fun-filled day.

Day Two

“Valley of the Ahs” 21/42/59 miles: Leaving Monmouth, we’ll ride out through the fertile farmlands of Polk County to its county seat in Dallas for our first break of the day. Long-route riders will ride west on a hilly and rugged trail loop. Mid-route riders will head due west out of Monmouth and join the others for lunch in Falls City, a charming old mill town nestled in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range. As afternoon breaks, everyone will enjoy rolling hills and sweeping turns through the grassy fields of Kings Valley. At the foot of the Douglas Firs, we’ll finish out our ride through Sarah Helmick Park before settling back at camp. Good work campers, you’ve earned your merit badge.
