Cycle Oregon 2010 — Read All About It

Torsten and Laurie from The Oregonian blogged up a storm

This year Cycle Oregon embraced social media in a major way with the introduction of The Blogmobile — a mobile platform for reporters and riders to share their experiences on the road in real-time. And share they did. Laurie Robinson and and Torsten Kjellstrand from The Oregonian posted several stories a day (as well as numerous videos) on the Oregonian Blog along with minute-by-minute updates on the Cycle Oregonian Tumblr Blog.

Frank Mungeam of KGW.com posted detailed daily reports and photo galleries that he worked on tirelessly until very late in the evening (I’m not sure he slept all week). Recumbent aficionado Robert Holler also posted frequently on Holler It!, and I kept myself occupied with the Cycle Oregon Blog. I will also be posting more to pdxcyclingonline.com later this week.

We were pleased that lots of other rider/bloggers took advantage of the Blogmobile’s WiFi and laptops to update their own sites too. Freek Reijnen has his own Cycle Oregon Blog written in Dutch. Posts can also be found on In The Spin, Life as I Know It, Steve’s Cycle Oregon Adventure, Entertaining Raw Foods Diet, What’s Going on with Brett and Debbie, Cycling Obsessions and 2.To.Oregon.

The Blogmobile was also used by 40 – 60 riders per day to access Facebook, Twitter and many other sites. Once they return and have time to sort through their photos, they’ll begin posting their favorites to the Cycle Oregon 2010 flickr group and their very best to the Oregonian CO photo contest.

Did you blog about your ride? If so, please send a link to dean@koifishcommunications.com. And if you’ve got a video you’d like to contribute to the Cycle Oregon YouTube channel, please let me know that as well.

  1. RE The Blogmobile….. for those of you who rode in the 1990’s remember the long lines to use a pay phone in some small town rigged up on a framework of 2X4s in a small trailer? All of us made sure that the guy/gal in front kept within their “alloted” 5 minutes. My, how technology has changed our world.
